Alright, we haven't had any comic related posts in a while. How about top comic book covers? Sound like a plan? Good 'cause that's what we're doing.
10) Transmetropolitan- Lust for Life
The first time I saw the cover for this trade I knew it was a series I had to read. And now Spider Jerusalem is pretty much my hero.
9) Nth Man #1
I bought this comic when I was 8 years old because I was trying to figure out how he could spin that sword and not chop off his fucking arm. I'm 30 and still trying to figure that shit out. The sign of any great cover.
8) Punisher - Born
This cover is a trip. It's like something you'd see in a psychiatry presentation examining the inner workings of a deranged soldiers mind.
7) Superman - The Death of Superman
I've never been a huge Superman fan but I had to buy this when it came out. The impact of the death of an American icon was profound. Then of course like all comic book characters he was resurrected by the all powerful dollar.
6) Wolverine #50
Have to give Marvel a lot of credit for this one. The cover is actually a faux file folder with claw marks.
5) Spider-Man #50
Maybe Marvel has something with the #50 and badass covers. This one is so iconic it was referenced in Spider-Man 2 as well as other comics.
4) Spectre #0
Bought this comic, never read it, have no earthly clue what it's about. The cover kicks that much ass.
3) Preacher #1
Just look at it! You know some wild shit is behind that cover.
2) Iron Man #128
Tony Stark all strung out and sporting some hobo chic clothing. It doesn't get any better than this.
1) Batman - The Dark Knight Returns
Simple and powerful. The stripped down image is very contrary to the contents inside which helped revolutionize Batman and comics as a whole.

Soundtrack for a Revolution
So the US government has narrowly averted another shutdown (for now). You know what, fuck it. Just burn that bitch to the ground and let's start over. Until there's a congressman sporting a baseball cap and a Slayer shirt I'm not being represented anyway. Here's some songs to crank while playing with the matches.
5) Mob Goes Wild - Clutch
How fucked up is it when a stoner metal band has the plan?
4) Children of the Grave - White Zombie
We didn't listen to Black Sabbath back in the day when they came out with this. Now we need to crank up the Zombie version and strap on some marching boots.
3) Cop Killer - Body Count
You know along the way there's going to be some cops that want to stomp out any revolutionary spirit....
2) Fuck Authority - Pennywise
The title says it all.
1) Foul Taste of Freedom - Pro-Pain
20 years and four administrations later, every single word Pro-Pain spits out is as true now as it was back then.
5) Mob Goes Wild - Clutch

The Lincoln Lawyer Movie Review
The Setup - Attorney Mick Haller (Matthew McConaughey) is a slick talking West Coast lawyer that practices from the backseat of a Lincoln Town Car. He gets saddled with a high dollar, high profile assault case that is more than what it seems.
The Good - The film is very entertaining. It offers a lot interesting turns and some good performances. The Lincoln Lawyer offers one of the best performances from Matthew McConaughey I've seen in a long time. And that's saying a lot. McConaughey is like John Wayne - he plays the same part in EVERY SINGLE MOVIE. William H. Macy has a great turn as gay Chicago cop turned investigator and Marissa Tomei adds a certain depth and charisma as Haller's ex-wife, who happens to be a prosecuting attorney.
The Bad - I have two problems with the movie. The first is the camera work. I don't understand the fascination with all of this moving camera bullshit. There are two scenes in particular where the camera circles endlessly around a character. You shouldn't have to pay $10 to get vertigo.
My other issue with the movie is the accents. The story takes place in California but some of the characters have such thick regional accents it can be distracting. McConaughey's southern drawl colliding with Michael Pare's New York accent just seems to pull you right out of the moment.
The Ugly - I know the whole world has gone retarded for HD but The Lincoln Lawyer is a good argument for abandoning the technology. Matthew McConughey's face has gigantic canyons that would simply be lines in standard definitions. Marissa Tomei, an attractive women, looks like a train wreck in this. Crystal clear picture does wonders in exacerbating one's imperfections.
Overall the Lincoln Lawyer is a good film. In fact, it's the first reviewed film to receive 4 Flaming Midgets.
