Movie soundtracks have become a huge business in the last few decades. Drawing in big name bands, many times the soundtrack is more successful than the film it's attached to.
5) Last Action Hero
While the movie marked the official downfall of Arnold's movie career, the soundtrack rocked. If you have to watch your career go down in flames can you ask for a better score than AC/DC, Alice in Chains and Megadeth? I think not.
4) Singles
Before grunge consumed all in it's flannel covered path, Singles showcased a bevy of Seattle based talent. The movie even featured Alice in Chains and members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
3) Less Than Zero
Sure the movie is a fucked up 80's Just Say No commercial and Robert Downey Jr. sucks dick for crack, but man does this soundtrack kick ass. Where else are you going to find Aerosmith, Slayer, Danzig, L.L. Cool J and Roy Orbison all on the same album?
2) The Crow
Story of murdered guitar player from beyond the grave inspires Pantera, Helmet, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots and others (including some weird ass bands you've never heard of) to put forth one of the defining collections of music from the 90's.
1) Demon Knight
The fucking Crypt Keeper rocking out. 'Nuff said.
